Hey, I'm Sophie
I manage projects, I'm a parent, and I’m an expat in Berlin, Germany.
A few years back I moved here with my family, and what began as a short-term assignment gradually opened up a new chapter living abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Germany wasn’t in the master plan. Like many international moves, it began as a job opportunity and grew into something far bigger.
The early months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines settled in. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Urban Meadow Ray
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level travel content. What was missing was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that void — actionable guidance drawn from real life in Germany.
What This Site Does (And Doesn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Germany
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A sponsored-review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Germany goes on, and so does the journey of learning. As long as the information remains useful, I will continue recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Berlin or anywhere in Germany, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Sophie
